I remember not that God suffered in heaven. Only that he was sorely vexed and wished he had not created man. As in the flood. Yet as he came to be with his son on earth I remember the people suffered Christ greatly. I think if suffering shall end it shall be each man that must end suffering until it is no more

E.E. Cummings lived upstairs from my uncle in Greenwich Village. They were friends. When my cousin was born E.E. wrote my uncle a beautiful, typed letter, all in lower case. She still has it after 75 years.
